THINGCHECK this Thurs!

April 27, 2009

A’right! Get ready for our second ThingCheck party at SoundCheck this Thursday 30th. ThingCheck is a rocking party between the SoundCheck massive, and our friends over at ThingBox.com. The emphasis is as always on FUN, with a great mixed crowd; gay, straight, queer, alterno-gay, bi, indie, damaged, curious, rocker, discofiend, lost politicians, fans of cheese, elitist music snobs, SoundCheckers, animals, whatever.

The last ThingCheck bash was so fucking good, so we’re really looking forward to this one.

Greetings sunkissed fuckers!

SoundCheck is dee-lighted to announced bottles of vino are just a tenner in our gaff @ Spy these days.

Yum!

Previously, they were a tenner when you ordered some food, but we’ve decided to extend the offer to those on empty stomachs too because we want to get you drunk so we can snog you we are in a generous summer-y mood!

Oh, and look what Totally Dublin said about SoundCheck and our sistas in Le Cirque this week: “They do fashion, fun, concept nights and ridiculously up-to-the-minute indie-rock and electro, dahling.”

We like that ‘dahling’ bit, makes us feel like we’re in an episode of Ab Fab.

All Star line-up for this Thursday

April 20, 2009

Sappnin folks? This week SoundCheck is bursting at the seams. We’ve got Disconnect 4 travelling down from the Galway massif to play some tunes for us. These guys have recently received lots of love from the Irish Times as being kids to watch, and we love them too, which is why they’re DJing!

Our homie The Vinny Club will be bringing his unique brand of endless diversity to the decks as well. Vinny, who also makes up one third of Adebisi Shank - bangs out everything from Prince to 8-bit to metal, and always whips up a serious party, so don’t miss him.

SoundCheck faves Grand Pocket Orchestra also hit Spy for a set. We never fail to have fun with these guys as they play some great, fun indie and a really good mix of everything else to get the funtimes started. We *heart* GPO!

And Loreana Rushe makes her SoundCheck debut, which we’re all very excited about. LR is a music photographer extraordinaire, and also the genius behind Fight Like Apes’ art work. Plus, she DJs loads around town and knows her stuff for sho. We’ve been trying to get her to play for ages and eventually sorted it out by positioning a giant mouse trap cage (like the one in the boardgame) over Wexford Street and BOOM, we got her. We also bumped into LR at the Fight Like Apes video shoot at the weekend and she was promising to play some “seriously weird shit” – yes!

Also on board are your SoundCheck residents Sarah Fox and UnaRocks who will be playing the freshest indie. You won’t hear better indie and beyond in town. We gots the newest cuts and the funnest stuff.

So, as usual SoundCheckers, it’s Thursday from 7pm at Spy on South William Street. We roll late til around 2.30am, with our sistas in Le Cirque rocking upstairs from 11pm if you’re into a wild electro and whathaveya party.

It’s FREE IN before 11, and just a fiver after. For that you get our cupcake buffet, 2-for-1 cocktails, awesome tunes, 2 club nights in 1 and lovely people.

See yiz down there.23-4-09

April Rock

April 15, 2009

morsecodesSoundCheck this Thursday (16th) is KICKING. Haido is back in town to play a set alongside your resident Sarah Fox.

Plus we’ve got some awesome special guest DJs in the form of the cream of new Irish bands – CODES, New Amusement and Talulah Does The Hula. Expect the newest tunes, best indie, random pop and danceable amazingness in town.

We kick off at Spy from 7pm and go til LATE. It’s free in before 11pm after which there’s door tax of a fiver with Le Cirque our hawt sister club banging it upstairs with the best electro, techno and beyond.

Want more? FINE! We’ve got a free cupcake buffet, two-for-one cocktails, food served until 9pm, and a bottle of vg vino for just a TENNER when you order grub. You can’t knock that, oh no.

So good people, great vibes, brilliant music and cheap GOOD QUALITY booze.

Rock it.

Eggstatic!

April 10, 2009

Rock on to everyone who bailed down to SoundCheck last night – what a savage night!

The eggcellent Rack Pack kicked things off, followed by the lovely and lively Delorentos and then madsers Dublin Streets. The night was capped by our homies from Le Cirque bringing the party.

We also had Easter egg fun with free treats, and a new game called Easter Ball, which basically involved playing American football across South William St with Easter eggs. No taxis were injured, but some chocolate was.

There were great tunes last night; everything from Tina Turner to Black Kids to Ida Maria to Grandmaster Flash. Serious fun. If you missed it, you missed a good ‘un!

We shall see y’all next Thursday for more cracking SoundCheck fun. We’ve got an awesome line-up next week; your residents UnaRocks and Sarah Fox, Haido, and New Amusement and Talulah Does The Hula make their SoundCheck DJing debuts, while the awesome CODES also return for a set.

Happy Easter!
