Cupcake Chaos

October 30, 2008

We’ll see you all down in Soundcheck tonight, if only for the homemade cupcakes!!!  Two terrifying flavours to torture your tastebuds.  Black Heart Horror cupcakes and Pirate Rum Blood cupcakes (both with sprinkles of course.)

In the true spirit of Halloween, they look ghastly.  Not intentional.  They taste divine though.

New monthly residents: Dublin Streets!

October 24, 2008

Take it to the Streets! Fashion bloggers, GCN columnists, New York Times darlings, and of course, DJ supremos Dublin Streets have a few very successful SoundCheck DJ sets under their sparkly belts.

SoundCheck loves their vibe – it’s what we’re all about; fun, diversity, serious tunage, party times, and all round wrecking the gaff with style!

That’s why we’re delighted to announce today that Dublin Streets will take up a monthly residence at SoundCheck. That means, once a month (on the second Thursday of every month) you can look forward to a rocking set from the Dublin Streets posse.

Their residency kicks off on November 13th, and then December 11th and so on.

We are SO EXCITED!

Big Up Yizzerselves!

SoundCheck truly ROCKED last night! UnaRocks and Sarah Fox kicked it off, surrounded by edible vampire teeth and lollipops. Yumsies. Quigo jumped in after with his as always deadly mix. Welcome home buddy!

Then Conor The Shark made a stellar SoundCheck debut with some savage tunes. His set was birthday boy AdoMeNoFemBo’s favourite of the night – high praise! Then RapturePonies strapped on her headphones and opened with the theme from Black Beauty. Legend. That was followed by brilliant party tunes that kept the large blogging contingent who hit Spy last night very happy indeed.

The Bluebirds Are So Natural posse confirmed their Songs For Swinging Children rep by playing some excellentay swinging tunes. Great indie and old school stuff – Good Ship Lollipop – yes!

After that, UnaRocks and Sarah Fox tag teamed until the end, throwing in Vampire Weekend, MGMT, M.I.A., Kings of Leon and some random awesomeness towards the end; Roxette, Forever Young, Jape’s cover of ‘Africa’ and some real gems from Sarah’s collection of the best tunes ever!

Big ups to everyone who came down – too many to mention, you know who you SoundCheckers are! – it was a BLAST! (photees to come)

Stay tuned today for a very special SoundCheck announcement.

And we shall see you next week for SoundCheck Hallowe’en featuring DJ sets from Super Extra Bonus Party, Goodtime John, Adrian Crowley, YoCo aka Corina (wreck da) Gaffey, and birthday girl war set from Sarah Fox V Paddy Mullen. Yowza!
