It’s €5 in and there are some sweet recession-proof drink promotions; Druids cider, Pratsky beer, shots of Phirana, VK mixed flavours and a vodka and dash are all €4. To get you on the floor, we have some SAVAGE guest DJs. Messiah J & The Expert make their SoundCheck debut, and we welcome back the almighty Ham Sandwich for a DJ set too. Your SoundCheck///AfterParty resident DJ UnaRocks will also be on hand to make sure the party is indie rawk fantastic.

We’re also really excited about sharing the night with a brand new club night, Le Cirque. Le Cirque is about dressing up, live art, fun, electro, and general amazingness. Together, SoundCheck and Le Cirque are going to seriously blow your Thursday night away!

After 11pm, it’s a fiver in, and for this you get two great club nights in one building, seriously awesome guest DJs, brilliant cocktails, and most importantly, fun times.

We can’t wait to see you there!

A night of Psychic Galaxie. And mojitos. Lots of mojitos.

September 26, 2008

Another cracking night last night @ SoundCheck. Dek was playing some tunes I hadn’t heard in AGES! And then Le Galaxie played everything from Vitalic to Guns n Roses. Psychic Kids whacked out loads of great tunes as well, and Alan finished off with a partying set.

There were lots of mojitos, passionfruit martinis, lollipops, french fancies, and millions of people too! Fun times.

We played some sweet movies too, including The Notorious Betty Page and Cabaret. Funtimes!

So, it’s all gearing up for next week when we go late (on purpose!) for the first time. Can’t bleedin wait. Get ready to call in sick next Friday because SoundCheck is going to go off!

If you’re heading to FLApes tonight, have fun!

All. Night. Long.

Us SoundCheck Bitches are exceedingly excited about going all night long, while still maintaining our evening club, which is just getting better and better as the weeks go by.

Hello! This Thursday, the reincarnated Betamax Format, now Psychic Kids will be unveiling their favourite tunes at SoundCheck. Alongside them, the excellent Le Galaxie will be playing the sounds that inspired their awesome music.

SoundCheck runs from 7pm to 11pm. It was jammers last week, so our advice is to get there early.

Fun, much?

September 19, 2008

How much fun was last night? Total blast.

UnaRocks kicked it off playing some new MIA remixes, dropping The Organ and Glasvegas.

Dark Room Notes picked up the tempo amongst our new recession sweetie additions (love heart sherbet dips, drumsticks and refreshers) playing some rock and roll. Everyone had some beers and cocktails and the vibe was savage.

Then it was ON. Dublin Streets dropped Gloria Estefan, New Kids on the Block, Mariah, Bloc Party and Hercules and Love Affair, teeing up Rick O’Shea who wrecked the gaff with hardcore amazing indie. And the Spice Girls!

His talents prompted a tag team tune-off between himself and UnaRocks. Everything was cracked open; Bonnie Tyler, the drum and bass version of John Waters interview on Newstalk slagging bloggers (seriously), MGMT, Hot Chip, Delorentos, Fight Like Apes and more. So awesome.

And so SoundCheck went, we couldn’t stop, so we went all the way to 2.30am even though we’re ‘officially’ done at 11pm. What did we end with? Frightened Rabbit ‘Keep Yourself Warm’. Just for the laugh, like.

Big ups to EVERYONE for coming down- the place was packed! The Dublin Streets posse, bloggers all over the gaff (hello Mulley!), Fight Like Apes – thanks for taking a break to pop in just before the Ting Tings tour, rock on! – Grand Pocket Orchestra, Phantom homies, Kiss homies, everyone was in the house!

What a deadly night.

Folks are blogging about it here and here and here. And Dublin Streets were snapping the style here, and there’s a brilliant photo-illustrated A-Z of the night here.

See y’all next week!

Rick, Streets, Notes, Rocks

September 17, 2008

SoundCheck tomorrow (18th Sept) features a STELLAR line-up.

We’ve got legend Rick O’Shea – a blogger, radio ledgebag, DJ, and general awesome bloke.

Plus, we’ve got Dublin’s premiere street style crazies – DUBLIN STREETS – who are swapping their snapping for the decks in order to channel fashion through music. Either that or just drop some Mariah. Altogether now “touch my body.”

AND we’ve got Dark Room Notes, a goddam very exciting band who will be playing all there favourite tunes.

To round it off, we’ve got SoundCheck resident UnaRocks taking a break from presenting on Phantom this week to drop some of the newest indie fun songs.

Then, my Checker friends, the usuals; free in, amazing cocktails (two for one!), yummy cakes, good people and good times. I will see you, your mates and yer mas there.

Nadine O’Regan @ SoundCheck

September 10, 2008

Yoyo. Rock up to Spy tomorrow eve 7pm – 11pm (Sept 11th) because the wonderful Nadine O’Regan (Phantom, Sunday BiznezzPost) will be playing the tunes. We have a very special guest DJing too – Mr Neil Dunphy, music critic of The Sunday Tribune. Journo-tastic!

UnaRocks and Quigo will also be spinning your favourite indie tunes.

And there are cakes.

And two-for-one cocktails.

And it’s free in.

Enjoy!
