SoundCheck #5 in photees
July 30, 2008SoundCheck #6: bye bye July, hello Ham Sandwich
July 29, 2008Podge and Niamh from Ham Sandwich, two of the most rocking frontpeople of any Irish band, fuck it, of ANY band fullstop (.) will be rocking SoundCheck this Thursday (July 31st).
Miss their set at your peril, it shall be a musical Monopoly board with Buckfast, Kells, MGMT tunes, rock and roll and general anarchy all channelled into what is perhaps our most anticipated guest DJ slot so far here at SoundCheck Castle. SoundCheck residents Quigo and Sarah Fox will be providing the tunes before Ham Sandwich hit the decks.
See y’all Thursday @ Spy, South William Street 7pm – 11pm.
Don’t forget, it’s free in and cocktails are 2-for-1. Don’t worry if you skipped dinner to get there, we’ll have cakes at the ready.

Upcoming SoundCheck guests
July 21, 2008For the purposes of fun, entertainment, variety and general awesomeness, we’ve invited some savage bands to come down to SoundCheck and DJ. Get into it. Oh, and more special guest DJs along with what’s listed here will be announced soon.
July 31st
HAM SANDWICH
+ SoundCheck DJs
Yup, Podge and Niamh Sandwich will be in the house playing you a selection of their favourite tunes. We have no idea what to expect, but it should be something along the lines of a Buckfast-soaked indie rumble.

August 7th
Queen Kong V You’re Only Massive
+ SoundCheck DJs
With ‘Dot-Dash’ – the highly anticipated collaborative album between QK and YOM – about to drop, SoundCheck will play host to two of the most intriguing bands around. You’re Only Massive announced just today that they are to split as a band, so this SoundCheck party is being billed by the band as their ‘last hurrah’. You’re not going to want to miss that, are ya?

C O D E S

As soon as they get back from wrecking the gaff with a series of London gigs, C O D E S will be dropping in to DJ. With music epic enough to make Muse blush, we can expect some loud, fun and rocking indie from these dudes.

SoundCheck #4 in photees
July 21, 2008SoundCheck #4: Rize, margaritas, choooons
July 21, 2008Yohoho and a 2-for-1 cocktail. Sorry…
Anyway, SoundCheck #4 was our most funsies yet, we think! If you missed it, a great crowd came down to listen to some quality music (choice cuts from UnaRocks and Quigo were Dizzee Rascal’s ‘That’s Not My Name’ cover, a fair whack of MGMT and Santogold and Sam Sparro because he rocks. Bonnie Tyler nearly got cracked out, but that’s for another night), drink some brilliant cocktails (how good were the margaritas?) and watch David La Chapelle’s ‘Rize’ which we had projecktin’.
We also had a super big selection of treats; French fancies, cherry bakewell tarts, chocolate muffins and star icing queen cakes. They went super quick. We’re looking into getting Mr Kipling to sponsor the night
Big ups to Queen Kong who dropped in to say hi, they’ll be DJing @ SoundCheck soon, which we’re really looking forward to. Along with QK, we’ve got some savage guest DJs coming up soon, which will be announced shortly.
Roll on Thursday!

SoundCheck #4: July 17th
July 15, 2008suuuppp.
SoundCheck returns, as it tends to do, weekly at Spy on South William St, 7pm-11pm, this Thursday. I know, right?
What do we have in store for you? UnaRocks and Quigo plus some special DJ guests playing za tunes. Last week, everything from MGMT V LCD Soundsystem, Adam Tensta, Nine Inch Nails, Fight Like Apes (unreleased tracks), Kanye, Holy Fuck and Jape dropped, so although it’s impossible to really predict what we are gonna play, it’s always good.
As usual, cocktails are two for one. Mojitos, cosmos, whatever, you dig. Cheap as. Yum. Plus, we have our surprise sweet treats to put some carbs in yo bellies.
Come down, hang out, grab a drink, bring your mates, listen to some good tunes. Rock it.
GIFT the late night indie club is up after.
